For instance on the server I have a file folder of A. Inside that folder I have a file x.php. I have setup a link to this file that is “website.com/a/x.php”. I want to be able to restrict this link to the public and require a log in.

It’s not a core file though. It’s being used with the internal or external link set up. Or is that what your saying?

It mean “website.com/a/x.php” is created from SEF link? Could you send me link without SEF?

Hello, If a visitor access directly to https://tipngreen.com/a/boxscore/ without going to https://tipngreen.com first, they can view page normally without any restriction. So my opinion, you should: 1. Create a page by using Joomla! Content or K2...etc) and embed page: https://tipngreen.com/a/boxscore/ though iframe. 2. Go to menu and create new alias, in menu you set "View level" is "Register" 3. Copy alias and replace for old box. You don't need use jlex block in your case :).
